Printer-friendly version

We're all part of a watershed, and water quality is crucial.

The Okanogan Conservation District can help with issues related to water bodies with projects like habitat restoration, erosion control, manure management, and fish protection.

Technical assistance is available specifically for smaller parcels.

Adopting common-sense conservation practices like manure management and appropriate irrigation can protect and/or improve water quality on and around your property.

Bonaparte Creek Restoration Project

The District is working with landowners and local citizens to improve water quality in the Bonaparte Creek Watershed. We lead an annual Creek Clean-up event in September.

Cost-share is available for creekside landowners to implement projects. Please contact us if you have a project idea in mind.

Technical assistance and cost-share are available for projects that improve water quality related to livestock. Items such as creek-side fencing and spring developments are typically funded by this program.

Okanogan Conservation Technical Assistance (OCTA)

Our staff can help you build a site-specific plan for your property that incorporates Best Management Practices for water quality conservation.

Improving your land can often help you improve your bottom line!

 Okanogan River Screens

If the fish screen on your pump irrigation diversion is out of compliance, we can help.

You could receive 100% cost share and free technical assistance to ensure your screen meets requirements for fish protection.

Participation is strictly voluntary but strongly encouraged. Properly-sized screens help protect fish, minimize debris build-up and increase pump efficiency.
